Here we are, back in San Francisco. We were welcomed home by the fine fellas at The Bay Bridged who included Tartufi in their Best of 2007 list.
Our fall tour was amazing. Thank you to everyone who came out to the shows, those who fed and housed us, and to all the new friends we made. You can read our tour blogs on Mesh Magazine's website.
We are taking a little time away from gigging to finish writing our upcoming album. Those of you who saw us on tour got a sneak peak of some of the material that will be on it. We've been busy in the studio the past few weeks and the newest of the new music is insane. We can't wait to share it with you.
We just this week locked down our studio time. We intend to spend several weeks throughout the spring creating, what we hope to be, one of the best albums of 2008. If you would like to help us out, you can sponsor all or part of a studio day by clicking on the Pay Pal button below. Every little bit helps and we would appreciate your support greatly. Thanks.
Off we go again to skin the whale of this nation. 55 shows in two months and we are still booking.
In preparing for this tour we have written most of our next album, broke then repaired or replaced almost every single piece of gear, moved homes multiple times, said goodbye to Alex, hired and fired a manager, were voted best Indie band in SF by the Bay Guardian Readers, played our first wedding, started a side project band with Silian Rail (Junk Is A Ship), and became way too familiar with our computers.
Life in Tartufi-Land has been insanely busy and we are so fucking thrilled to be heading back out on tour.
Come see us if you can and please spread the word.
July 29, 2007: Farewell to Alex.
We have been honored to work with our manager, Alex Deerfield this past year and today we sadly have to say goodbye. Alex is about to realize his life’s dream and start his own windfarm in Galicia, Spain with his wife and young daughter.
Alex,
Thank you for believing in us and our music, for your incredible work ethic, and for the constant supply of amazing coffee. You have been a great support and inspiration to us and we wish you, Amy, and Andrea Sue great happiness and adventure. Now we have more reason than ever to play Europe.
Love,
Brian and Lynne

TARTUFI Voted Best Indie Band by San Francisco Bay Guardian's Readers Poll !!!!!
"Tartufi write songs like they're folding towels fresh from the dryer. Traveling the seam between coo and caw, the duo churn out lush and layered soundscapes that billow with cerebral grace, prog-perfect texture, and a deliciously abstract abrasion that our readers adore."
Dear Monkeys and Lions,
WE DID IT! WE WON!
What you ask?
BEST INDIE BAND!! In the SFBG Readers Poll!! Which means we ALL did it!!! Together!
No - our Moms did not pay off the editors at The Guardian....and no our Dads didn't either. But somehow -- WE DID IT!! !! We won Best Indie Band in the whole BAY AREA!!!!
Why?
Cause you voted for us!!! Thanks to all who voted and all who made this Emmy a possibility. I would like to thank The Academy.....God.....Sweet Little 8 Pound 5 Ounce Baby Jesus In The Manger, our Manager - Alex Deerfield - who died tragically after hearing the news that WE WON!!! from cardiac arrest - its all very sad. Ours moms and dads [wink wink], our girlfriends, our boyfriends, our 'ladies on the side', our 'friday night fellas', and Budweiser beer.
Seriously though - if you voted thank you! And if you didn't - screw you we won anyway no thanks to you!!! Jerk.
Thanks "readers"!!! We love you just as much - and today maybe a little more - as you love us!!!
March 28, 2007:

We've been working our asses off, but couldn't have put the tour together without the help of our friends:
Big thank yous to Lila and Cameron - we are trying our damndest to not fall into the bullshit rock cliche, and love you both like crazy.
Lila thanks as well for the incredible and generous loan of our beautiful, but soon to be stinky ass road home.
Thanks to Thread Productions for being awesome and understanding of how busy we have been.
Paco thanks for all the feedback and support.
Jessica thanks for the amazing artwork.
Thanks as well to The McCarthys, El Rio, and Kenny Taylor for letting us go and helping us get there.
and thanks to everyone who came out to see us off....
Now go see some music people!!!
October 14, 2006:
It’s been a while since we’ve been to this little ol’ news section, but so much has happened.
-With three great California shows we’ve released our new album, “Us Upon Buildings Upon Us”, and were enthusiastically received by our fans (new and old) and the press alike. Thanks to Grizzly Bear, Papercuts, Two Sheds, Giraffes?Girrafes!, and Lebanon for their awesome performances during our release shows.
-UUBUU is currently being played and is charting on college radio stations throughout the country. Call or email your local station and listen to Tartufi while stuck in traffic, shaving in the morning, while your job sucks your soul from you, and / or when it comes time to make love to that sweet pile of person you call yours.
TARTUFI was honored to be the cover story for September's issue of West Coast Performer. Thank you to everyone at Performer for being so kind to us. (Ryan Kitson is an excellent photographer)
-We wrote and performed a half an hour’s worth of brand spanking new material to accompany 4 films at The Madcat Film Festival. It was such a fun and inspiring event. We plan to reshape the music a bit and release it in fancy pants cd form sometime early next year. (Silian Rail and The Secrets of Family Happiness played their asses off at the festival. If you don’t know these bands, please do yourself a favor and listen to them).
-THREAD PRODUCTIONS. For a while now we have been brainstorming and threatening to start a collective and label with other bands we love and respect. That time has come and it has a name: THREAD PRODUCTIONS. THREAD is TARTUFI, Low Red Land, Silian Rail, and Birds + Batteries. In the month since we have formed we have produced a compilation cd “Dragon Slayers Volume 1” and acquired a residency at San Francisco club for the month of January. (Birds and Batteries and Low Red Land embark on a national tour for all of November. Go to their show)
-We are currently finalizing our fall and winter schedules and planning our spring national tour. If you have a club, party, or a town you’d like is to play, please contact us.
So much good stuff is happening we can barely take it. Thank you as always for supporting Tartufi. b…
July 29, 2006: Holy shit was that fun!! Thank you to everyone who was at the Bottom of the Hill show last night, we had an amazing time. This was the best possible way that we could ever have celebrated the enormous and awesome ass beating that we subjected ourselves to in recording the new album.
Say Hi To Your Mom and Dirty On Purpose played wonderfully. We wish them the best of luck on the remaining legs of their tour.
It was so great to finally play a local all ages show. To our younger fans: we will try to book another all ages show in the coming months. Thank you for rallying to this show and please keep sending us emails, myspace comments, and those tasty baby penguins.
Remember Tartufi believes that kids should drink and enjoy good music.
July 26, 2006: US UPON BUILDINGS UPON US !!!!!
It is done. After 10 days, spending nearly every waking moment in the recording studio, we have finished our new album, “Us Upon Buildings Upon Us”.
This was the most fun and also the most challenging experience we’ve had in the recording studio. Gigantic thanks to Tim Green, who recorded and mixed the album and created an environment in which we felt comfortable to record this beautiful monster.
Us Upon Buildings Upon Us will be released nationwide in October with a series of cd release shows to follow. We should have samples from the album on our myspace page in the next week or so.
May 20, 2006: Good Christmas have we been busy. The velvet wallpaper in our rehearsal studio is all bubbled and falling thanks to the million gallons of sweat that we have deposited in there working on the new album, and Lynne has worn out two pairs on Converse thanks to all of the pedal stepping she does to make us sound enormous. Tartufi has never sounded better and we can’t wait for you, the world at large (or small) to hear.
We have booked some shows for the summer (please see our shows page) on excellent bills that we are really excited about. Our “official” SF shows are booked up through August, but we have plenty of room to rock your house-party. Tartufi likes both houses and parties. Contact us to help make your neighbors angry with you.
We are about to begin work on booking our fall tour. Right now the intention is to do the whole damn country, play CMJ in NYC, and loop back again. If you know of any shows, bands, friends, festivals, club contacts, or parties in Anywhere U.S.A that you think we would fit well with, please let us know.
Relatedly we are also looking to purchase a reliable van to call home for the fall. Any leads?
April 22, 2006: Ladies and Gentlemen Boys and Girls Fans of All Ages:
Yes, Dear Hearts it has been a while. Big news in Tartufi-land. Simone has left Tartufi to focus her attentions on the Academy Award for Best Documentary of 2007. Though her leaving came as a suprise to the band we support her decision and wish her the best. Simone's farewell address is pasted below.
Be very clear, clear like hot butter, that Tartufi is fully operational. Since our kick ass showcase at South By Southwest, Lynne and I have been working furiosly on our new full length album, tentatively titled: "This is a Manifesto". It is quite simply the most adventurous, complex, and beautiful work that Tartufi has written to date, scheduled to be released in August 2006.
We've taken a short break in shows to work on the new material but are confirming our spring and summer show schedule now and will be back to you soon with those dates.
Be sure to check out our updated myspace page (www.myspace.com/tartufi) for new band photos and tracks off our latest release, "Trouble" (Acuarela Records).
Ding. Ding. Ding. Bingo. How we humans have changed.
Brian and Lynne (TARTUFI)
Friends and Fans of Tartufi,
Big news. I write to announce my departure from Tartufi in order to concentrate my energy and efforts on film and finishing my feature documentary, Immaculate Confession. Having started the band 5 years ago, I will take with me a long and amazing history of shows, music, and experiences.
You have all been very supportive of Tartufi through the years, and shared many of those great times with me. For that, I am very grateful.
Given my love of Tartufi, the decision to leave was a very difficult one. I'm not sure what my future in music holds. In the meantime, I will focus on editing my film and scoring the soundtrack, as I am finishing the final edit this summer.
Lynne and Brian will continue performing and playing out, taking Tartufi to a new and exciting place. I am eager to see Tartufi in its new incarnation.
Lastly, I'd like to thank Brian and Lynne for their committment and creative partnership. I wish them the best as they turn the page into the next chapter of Tartufi.
Fondly, Simone Grudzen
January 31st, 2006: Tartufi is featured on NPR's "All Songs Considered". Check it out here. Tartufi is heading to SXSW in Austin in mid-March. Until then, Tartufi's only live performance will be at Bottom of The Hill with Scissors for Lefty in San Francisco. If you are anywhere near California or Texas, please come. See you soon, Tartufi.
